Premium High-Gloss Woodturning Wax Developed by Craftsmen and Woodturners

Northern Shine Gloss Finishing Wax is a high-performance, professional-grade polishing wax created specifically for woodturners. Developed by experienced turners and craftsmen who understand real workshop demands, this wax delivers fast, predictable results with a finish that genuinely elevates your work.

Crafted from premium T1 carnauba wax, refined microcrystalline wax, and fortified with built-in UV protection, Northern Shine provides a durable, hard gloss with an unmistakably deep, wet-look shine. Its carefully balanced solvent and oil system ensures the wax spreads smoothly, warms instantly under friction, and buffs cleanly without haze or streaking.

Whether you’re finishing a showpiece bowl, a decorative spindle, or a small pen blank, this wax gives you a silky application feel, a fast flash-off, and a mirror-ready gloss in seconds. Perfect for both beginners and professionals, Northern Shine delivers consistent, gallery-quality results with minimal effort.

How to Use – Northern Shine Gloss Finishing Wax:

Northern Shine is crafted to reward precision. The finer the surface, the deeper the gloss — this wax elevates craftsmanship rather than concealing imperfections.

Prepare the timber: Sand to 400 grit, or refine further with our abrasive paste (always seal first when using abrasive paste).

Clear the surface: Remove every trace of dust with compressed air, IPA, or equivalent — a clean surface is the foundation of a flawless finish.

Seal and soften: Apply a sanding sealer, allow to dry, then gently de-nib until the surface feels silk-smooth.

Burnish the grain: Lightly burnish with paper towel to warm the timber and awaken its natural figure.

Apply Northern Shine: With the lathe stationary, work in a whisper-thin coat and allow it to haze (wax should feel dry not wet or tacky).

Buff with intention: Using a clean paper towel or a dedicated buffing pad, bring the lathe to speed and buff lightly — let warmth, not pressure, melt the wax into the wood, revealing a deep gloss.

Layer for depth: Apply 2–3 fine coats, gently buffing between each, to build richness, clarity, and that unmistakable hand-finished glow.

Hand-crafted finish. Workshop refined. Designed for makers who care about every detail.
