A hand-turned vase made from a beautifully spalted piece of London Plane.
The timber has developed wonderful natural markings throughout, with fine dark spalting lines, warmer patches of colour and areas of highly figured grain. I’ve kept the overall shape simple, with a rounded base flowing into a long, gently curved neck, allowing the character of the wood to remain the main feature.
The top retains a slightly irregular natural form, while small knots, voids and other features have been left as part of the piece rather than hidden. As with all my work, these natural imperfections are part of what makes it completely unique.
